Integrating a Centerless Grinding Machine into a Delta CNC System Solution to Improve Grinding Efficiency
Release time:2020-12-16
Centerless grinder is an important type of grinding machine tool, widely used for machining metal outer contours, such as bearing inner and outer rings, automotive crankshaft surface machining, electric vehicle wheel axle machining, etc. A certain customer is a well-known machine tool manufacturer, mainly producing grinding machine tools. Their centerless grinding machines occupy an important position in the industry. In recent years, with the intensification of competition in grinding machine tools, the market for ordinary centerless grinding machines has become saturated. In order to enhance market competitiveness, the customer has decided to pursue a differentiated product development path and developed a dual robotic fully automatic centerless grinding machine. When selecting the main functional components, after market comparison, the customer ultimately chose the Delta CNC system integration solution. After being put into use, Delta's integrated solution can meet the high-speed and high-precision machining control requirements of this new type of centerless grinder, while also improving the surface machining effect of the workpiece and gaining the trust of end customers.
Based on the customer's fully automated processing requirements, Delta's integrated solution uses the CNC system NC310 as the control core, combined with Delta's motion control AC servo system ASDA-A2 series and frequency converter, to construct a complete CNC system integration solution for the customer. Delta's solution is a five axis DMCNET digital high-speed communication bus integrated control system, which adopts a multi CPU and multi division architecture, with high execution efficiency, can achieve high-speed and high-precision control, and has simple wiring and easy maintenance. The Delta ECMC absolute high inertia servo motor used in the solution can help customers achieve grinding actions and automatic correction of grinding wheels and guide wheels.
A major feature of this new type of centerless grinder is the use of a dual robotic arm automatic feeding system. Therefore, customers require that grinding and automatic feeding can operate simultaneously to improve efficiency and shorten processing time. This requires the use of a dual channel control system, but the cost is high. In Delta's integrated solution, the ASDA-A2 series servo drive itself has powerful PR function (internal position programming mode), which can provide up to 64 internal addresses, plan various multi-point continuous motion paths, and communicate with the upper controller CNC in a friendly and convenient manner. In this functional mode, the dual robotic arms can complete various feeding actions, and the operator can also set the position parameters of the robotic arms. By utilizing the PR function mode of the A2 series servo drive, customers can meet their equipment motion control requirements through a single channel control system, greatly reducing system construction costs.
The advantages of Delta CNC system integration solution:
Bus control method, compared to traditional pulse control method, has more convenient wiring and high stability;
The CNC controller has convenient screen editing function, making it easy for customers to carry out secondary development of the screen;
Modular arc processing function makes customer corrections more convenient;
The pre reading function makes the transition of each trimming section smoother, avoiding the occurrence of sharp edges caused by single section pauses;
The powerful PR control function of A2 servo ensures the complex operation requirements of the robotic arm.
Before using the integrated solution of Delta CNC system for Centerless Grinding Machine, the customer had tried products and solutions from other manufacturers, but ultimately gave up due to not fully meeting their needs. Delta's intervention in the solution helped the customer successfully solve the problem they faced. This type of automated centerless grinder is fully automated by the equipment, from material retrieval to processing, and then to finished product retrieval. This enables centerless production to bid farewell to the labor-intensive mode of the past and enter the era of fully automated production and processing, which is also in line with the current trend of "machine replacement" industry development. The successful application of Delta's CNC system integration solution in this new fully automated centerless grinding machine demonstrates Delta's industrial automation product technology and solution integration strength in the grinding field, accumulating valuable experience for Delta's development in this field.
