Centerless cylindrical grinding
Centerless cylindrical grinding does not have a headstock or tailstock, but is supported by a support plate and guide wheels for grinding. It uses a grinding wheel for grinding. The centerless grinding method consists of three mechanisms: a grinding wheel, an adjusting wheel, and a workpiece support. The grinding wheel actually performs the grinding work, the adjusting wheel controls the rotation of the workpiece, and causes the workpiece to have a feed speed. The workpiece support supports the workpiece during grinding. Centerless cylindrical grinding machines have high productivity and are commonly used for mass production, making them easy to automate.
Characteristics of Centerless Cylindrical Grinding Compared to Ordinary Cylindrical Grinding
1. Continuous processing, no need for tool return, short clamping time for workpieces, high productivity.
2. The positioning mechanism of the bracket and guide wheel is more rigid than that of the top and center frame mechanisms of ordinary cylindrical grinders, and the cutting amount can be larger, which is conducive to the processing of slender shaft workpieces and easy to achieve high-speed and strong grinding. 3. The workpiece of the centerless cylindrical grinder is positioned on the positioning mechanism by the outer circle, and grinding is the margin on the workpiece diameter inspection. Therefore, the wear of the grinding wheel, compensation of the feed mechanism, and repeated positioning accuracy errors of the cutting mechanism have only half of the impact on the diameter and size accuracy of the parts of ordinary cylindrical grinders, without the need to drill a center hole, and easy to automate the loading and unloading in advance.
4. The wide grinding wheel centerless grinder has a pass through mechanism that can increase the machining allowance each time. When cutting in, it can grind complex surfaces sequentially or with multiple grinding wheels, with high productivity and wide applicability,
5. The centerless cylindrical grinder does not have a mechanism to ensure the relative positional accuracy (coaxiality, perpendicularity, etc.) between the ground surface and the non ground surface, resulting in poor roundness when grinding circumferential discontinuous outer surfaces.
6. Grinding surfaces can easily produce odd numbered edge roundness, which often creates the illusion that the measured size is smaller than the maximum physical size, affecting assembly quality and work performance.
7. Machine tool adjustment is complex and time-consuming. Every time a workpiece with a different diameter is replaced, the height of the bracket, distance, and related process parameters need to be readjusted. Therefore, adjusting the technology is difficult and not suitable for small batch and single piece production.
